On Our Doorstep.... Scoop ed

We are really lucky to live in an area with lot of great things on our doorstep so we thought that over the next few weeks we'd share some of our favourite haunts. So if you're local then check them out and if you're not maybe you should come and visit to give them a whirl ;)

So first up is Scoop ed, an amazing ice cream parlour that is literally down the road from Sparkle & Spin HQ. Owned by the lovely Sarah Baxter it sells amazing Italian ice cream in a variety of flavours in both kid and adult friendly portions. Scoop ed also sells a range of other snacks, including bagels and waffles and Sarah makes a mean cup of coffee. We are yet to try it but Scoop ed can make your very own ice cream cake for those special occasions ( no cake involved or so we are told!).

Next time you're in our part of the world pop and have a scoop or two you won't regret it and the kids are sure to thank you. Oh and please let us know what you think!

Funky Fleeces

Despite the sun playing tricks and coming out to play trips to the park are still a cold event and we think that there is nothing better than a fleece to keep you warm and cosy!

Here at Sparkle & Spin we have some great funky fleeces that will keep your little one as warm as toast while looking cool as a cucumber.

We love Molo's hooded plaid fleeces available in blue and purple with their trademark hint of neon. Katvig as ever have produced fleeces that are both planet and fashion conscious in a classic stripe.

Who'd have thought you could look so cool whilst being so cosy ;)

Hurrah it's the holidays. We've got lots of parties and fun things planned so the Sparkle & Spin shop will be closed until the 1st November but as always our online store is open and happy to serve you 24 hours a day :)

Are You Ready For Your Close Up???

It's been a busy day for us here at snap. We got up bright and early and headed down to set up at the Word Up Festival! We've dusted down our props, got our cameras at the ready and the photo booth is looking mighty fine (even if we say so ourself)!

So all we need now is for you to come and find us (we are in residence for all three days!) grab a moustache, a hat or two, some funky specs, SMILE and get ready for your close up ;)

Packing Up for Word Up!

We've been busy packing our snap props ready for our pop up photo booth that will be running throughout the Word Up Festival this weekend. We can't wait to get snapping and hope to see some of you there we will be setting up next to our friends from the Tales On Moon Lane Bookshop.

So pop on down grab a moustache, a hat or two, some funky specs and get ready for your close up ;)

Be A Jeanius ;)

If you are anything like us girls at Sparkle & Spin you love a jean or two (or possibly even 42 at the last count!).

They are comfy, practical and hardwearing and just perfect for the little ones to race around in, you can get them in so many style, shapes and colours what's not to love?! Well for AW11 we have some great jeans (even if we do say so ourselves).

Freoli's skinny grey washed jeans look fantastic under a dress and worn with boots. Perfect for little fashionistas they have an adjustable waist to ensure a great fit.

Mini Rodini keep it classic with a straight leg and a dark denim wash. We love these jeans worn dressed up with a smart shirt, great for special occasions but you can be sure they will be worn time and time again.

For the tiny ones we have some amazing dungarees from Molo. As ever the designers at Molo have paid attention to detail and these dungarees are just jeanius, with embroidered stitch and button detailing they are too good!

Come on be a jeanius ;)

All Sparkly & New

Hurrah we are coming to the end of our makeover and the Sparkle & Spin shop is looking all sparkly and new. There are few things still to be done (we just need to put the cherry on the top!!) but we would love to welcome you all back in through our little blue door and hear your feedback on our new look.

We have some new brands we would like you to meet including, No Added Sugar, Mini Rodini and Christina Rohde and some great new toys. Not forgetting that snap our portrait studio is up and running and taking bookings for your close up!

Something for the Weekend..... Diddi Dance Silent Disco

Our amazing friends over at Diddi Dance are taking part in Free to Dance an event that aims to see 10,000 people dancing in London and the event organiser, Ben break the world record for the world’s longest ever dance by an individual. He’ll be dancing through the entire 131-hour silent disco lineup (five and a half days!) and raising money for LearnBurma, a registered charity which exists to raise awareness for the situation in Burma.

You can join the lineup by registering with one of the groups dancing, Diddi Dance have a spot on the 15th October. Or if shaking your tail feather isn't your thing simply sponsor someone involved or just show you support by cheering the dancers on. We can't wait to get our dancing shoes on.

snap Pops Up at Word Up Festival!

We are excited to announce that snap have just confirmed a spot for a pop up studio at the fantastic new Word Up Festival!
The first ever Word Up Family Festival is set to start the Half Term week with a bang! With a three day action packed line-up that is just not to be missed. Take your pick of events from the UK's best children's writers and performers, craft sessions, workshops, face painting and the best bit.....the snap girls will be in residence.

So head on down to see us, rummage through our box of tricks and get ready to strike a pose and be prepared to be snapped.

Cosy Up In A Cardi

Brrr it's getting cold outside so we think it's time to wrap up and celebrate the cardi!! Now we are not talking about the o.a.p style woolies instead check out some of the funky winter warmers from our favourite brands.

The fantastic FUB has some gorgeous knits in merino wool with funky rib detailing and contrasting colours that are soft and cosy but oh so cool.

We can't get enough of Mini Rodini's classic cardi that is simple and understated but perfect teamed with anything.

Oh and for those of you that are a little wild at heart and love your cardi's to be a little more crazy Molo have an amazing knit complete with wolf motifs and neon. So grab a cardi and get cosy!

Something for the Weekend... The Big Draw

As most of you know the Sparkle & Spin girls love to get creative so this weekend we will be searching out some of the events happening as part of the Big Draw. The Big Draw is an annual festival that takes place across the country. Designed to get people of all ages to rediscover and return to drawing events are held throughout October, many of which are free to take part in.
