Something for the Weekend.... London Transport Museum

We felt a bit overwhelmed with what to feature this week for our Something for the Weekend. With half term coming to a close and lots of fun been had we were unsure what to choose. Thanks to the wonders of technology and a few tweets later our friend Babyccinnokids suggested the London Transport Museum. Having checked out their website we are going to jump on a bus and head over there. I suggest you do the same!!

Here Come the Mums.....

Here at Sparkle & Spin we want to share with you some of our favourite customers. Most, like us are busy working Mums, each with their own eclectic style so we thought we'd put them on the spot and find out some of their secrets.

Rachel pictured sitting on the throne

Rachel Watson, Mum to Emily (5) and Lucy (4) is a Freelance Television Producer. Rachel started her television career at the iconic “ Big Breakfast”. She now works on “I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!”. Outside of her busy work life Rachel is a sports fan and trains and competes in Triathlons.

Where do you look for inspiration?
To my friends and of course magazines. I wish I could say something profound but it would be a lie.

Greatest influence.
Without doubt my family.

What's on your wardrobe wishlist for your son/daughter this season?
As always to get them into some pretty, classic dresses that aren't covered in spangles.

Name your favourite childrenswear designer(s)
Molo, the quality just can't be beaten and Emilie is really tough on her clothes.

Name your and your childs most treasured possession
Lucy - I'm ashamed to say Hannah Montana cowboy boots - they're hideous. Emilie - any one of her hundreds of cuddly toys.

Earliest childhood memory
A pink coat. I can really remember loving that coat. I only have one picture of me in it and sadly it's in black and white.

Describe your perfect family weekend
In Dorset camping and the weather doesn't even have to be that good.

Name the best kept secret in London
Malika at One Change do the best eyelash extension, wouldn't be without them.

Name your and your childs favourite bedtime story
Lucy 'Splat the Cat', Emilie 'The Magician's Nephew'.

Do you Sparkle or Spin?
Spin, I need the training for my next triathlon

Something for the Weekend....Chinese New Year

This year the Chinese New Year falls on the 3rd February but Londoners will be celebrating on the 6th with events taking place on Sunday 6th February 2011 in Trafalgar Square, Chinatown and Shaftesbury Avenue. Having visited Chinatown last year during the celebrations this is one party that we are not going to miss!!

Those celebrating the Chinese New Year at Trafalgar Square will be treated to a colourful spectacle as Chinese dragons, lions and acrobats dance and perform to impress the crowds. Over in Chinatown, which is decorated with thousands on paper lanterns for the occasion, there will be lion dance displays as well as lots of yummy stalls offering food.
