Introducing Hollys

The Danish brand Hollys was born in 2003 while picking a 4-leaf clover – the symbol of happiness. The clover has become the trademark of Hollys and features in all their designs. Hollys clothes are designed with comfort and function in mind without compromising on fashion and their basic range of t-shirts and underwear perfectly compliments their seasonal fashion lines. We love their basic baby range perfect for every new little bundle of joy.

Something for the Weekend.. London Design Week

This weekend we are going to head East and catch the end of London Design Week starting with our friend Mar Mar Co who in collaboration with Rocket Gallery are showing some pieces from the new re-issue of Danish born Jens Risom classics from the 1950's – 1960's. Also on display are some beuatiful contemporary ceramics by Morten Løbner Espersen. We can't get enough of Danish Design!! We also plan on popping in to see the girls at Caravan where hand-printed wallpaper artist Deborah Bowness will be showing her Caravan styled miniature world, brought to life with moving image by Atticus Finch. Caravan's mix of eccentric vintage style homewares is always hard to resist. Before we head home and South of the river a trip to Mimi Berry's self named store to drool over her latest collection of gorgeous Italian leather bags, stachels and purses will be in order. Have a good weekend, we will :)

Introducing....Katvig

One of our favourite brands here at Sparkle & Spin is the super eco-conscious Katvig.

Born in 2003 Katvig
is the baby of Katrine Colette and Vigga Svensson (Kat-vig) who wanted to create a fashion brand that allowed children to be children whilst being committed environmental issues. With the simple philosophy that our generation must pass on the nature in the same state it was given to us, without compromising fashion. Katvig considers the environmental impact and consequence of every new piece of clothing they design.

Pioneers in the ethical production of kids clothing, Katvig
are continuously looking at improving their eco credentials to ensure that all products get from factory to store with the smallest carbon footprint possible. This applies to everything from using innovative recycled and organic fabrics to biodegradable packaging. We love the fact that their stock arrives in recycled boxes and have been found playing guess who had that box before every time a new delivery arrives!!

Following the amazing success of Katvig's outwear produced from recycled plastic bottles (can you imagine a fleece made from 15 plastic bottles!!), recycled cotton and polyester have become key materials in the collection, meaning less waste and less impact on the environment and beautifully soft clothes that every little one will want to wear.
Katvig has also worked hard to meet the tough Oeko-Tex Standard 100 proving that their clothes have been produced without any harmful chemicals meaning no need for pre washing. Third party verified by a number of organic standards you can be sure that Katvig does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Despite all their eco credentials Katvig produces on trend unique clothing in a kaleidoscope of colours in simple practical designs that let the prints do the talking. From their bright baby bodies, to their funky dresses and sweat wear you can be sure that Katvig always produces clothes that the we love without damaging our planet.

It's all free. We just can't resist having a snoop so we'll be there but we need to work out where to start first.

Back to School

Here at the shop we've just taken delivery of some great new school bags, Sweden's Fjallraven Kanken bag ticks all the boxes from it's boxy cut, fab colour-ways and simple design it's turns the average school bag into a true design classic. Fjallraven, Swedish for arctic Fox dates back to the 1950's when they used to craft their bags from authentic tent fabric, and they’re still made in Sweden. The Kanken rucksack is a true Fjällräven classic, basic, made from Vinylon, and complete with reflective logo.
