Something for the weekend... Carnival de Pueblo

This weekend the Carnival de Pueblo will be turning Burgess Park, Camberwell into a riot of colour and sequins and the Sparkle & Spin family will be heading down to join the party!! To get into the Carnival spirit we've been twirling and whirling round the shop in Holly's gorgeous Tulle skirt, which is a must for all budding Dancing Queens. The bright tangerine polo shirt from Freoli teamed with Molo's Hawian shorts will add a splash of Carnival colour for the boys. So lets go tango!!

If you want to join the festival at the park, where attractions start at 10 am, you should go to Burgess Park, in Camberwell, Chumleigh Street, London, SE5. It has easy access from Elephant and Castle underground and British Rail stations plus bus numbers 36, 12, 171, 68, 68a, 45, 176, 63, 172.

Schools out for Summer....

Schools out!! Hooray!! It's Summer! Time to push the school uniform to the back of the wardrobe and get out your Summer uniforms. For the girls pretty floral prints are a must and Freoli has the pick of the best. If you want something a bit more street look to Molo's Big Apple Inspired Butterfly print dress which looks great on it's own or teamed with Hollys shiny leggings. For the boys Katvig's sweat wear range is perfect either as a set or separates.

Something for the weekend.... Whistable Oyster Festival

This weekend we'll be leaving the big smoke and heading down to the Sunny South Coast to the Whistable Oyster Festival. A week long festival of events Whitstable’s streets, beaches and spaces come alive with performers, artists and exhibitors offering entertainment of all kinds. Top of our list are the Oyster Parade, that sees giants, musicians and the folk of Whitstable distributing Oysters throughout the town and the Oyster Competition (go on,see if you can get Dad to enter)!

Behind the Scenes

As most of you will know our the Little Blue door to our shop has closed for the Summer. We haven't jetted off for a long Summer break instead we are busy working with our other hat on, our Sandk hat, the clothing agency we run that looks after our favourite Danish brands, Ej Sikke Lej, Freoli, Hollys and Katvig. The shop has been transformed into a showroom and we are busy selling the Spring/Summer 2011 collection to buyers from far and wide. Sparkle & Spin online is still alive and well and will continue to bring you the best in kids wear throughout the year, meanwhile we're checking out the hottest looks for SS11 and we can tell you now there are some super cute pieces that you won't want to miss. Something for the weekend... Lambeth Country Show

Bringing a little bit of the country to the city this weekend is the Lambeth Country Show, filling Brockwell Park with a wide variety of music and entertainment to satisfy those of all ages. With plenty of activities for kids to enjoy from farm animals and storytelling to the candy floss delights of funfair this is an event not to be missed. So pull on your country best and go and see Lambeth's prize winning vegetables.

Something for the weekend....... NHM Butterfly Explorers

This weekend we will be pulling on our favourite florals and head down to the Butterly Explorers Exhibtion at the NHM. Situated on the lawn of the Natural History Museum, visitors can travel throught the exhibition from continent to continent, spotting and identifying butterflies, collecting passport stamps and learning how butterflies live around the world. We can't wait to visit the hatchery room and watch butterflies emerging from their chrysalises.

Introducing.... Ej Sikke Lej

This brand was hatched from a little egg in 2004 by Danish friends Margit Egeskov and Marlene Eger Ullum. Discovered in a needlework book the little Ej Sikke Lej Owl was first featured on a red t-shirt and has since become the logo for the brand and often features in their designs. The little owl has since been joined by other little animals and Ej Sikke Lej produces a fantastic range of basics in a rainbow of colours.

Over the seasons the collection has been expanded with retro styled dresses, trousers and other funky essentials and most recently the brand has focused on some organic striped pieces so your little one can be fashion conscious and planet conscious.

Living in Southwark, one of the greenest boroughs in London, the Sparkle & Spin family is spoilt for choice with over 130 green spaces to choose from. Pick a park, any park and grab your thermos and picnic blanket and go and relax in the sun. Well that's what we'll be doing this weekend.
