Something for the Weekend..... Appearing Rooms

Feeling, hot, hot, hot... so we'll be heading down to the Southbank this weekend to check out Appearing Rooms on the Southbank. Danish artist Jeppe Hein has created an interactive fountain where walls of water appear creating rooms, try and walk through the rooms without getting wet. A great way to cool off and we guarantee Dad won't be able to resist joining in, but we bet he gets wet first!

Something for the Weekend... Sit Down at Museum of Childhood

Will you just sit down.......they'll be no need to say it twice at the Museum of Childhood's Sit Down Exhibition, a show that charts kids furniture through the years. We can't wait to visit and check out the three bears cottage and cast our vote at the interactive dinner table, hope to see you over porridge!

This week the shop seems to have been taken over by animals! Everywhere we look we have new furry friends waiting to be taken home and loved. Something for the weekend.......Peckham Space

For those that will be staying here in the UK we though we'd share with you a local 'Something for the Weekend'. Just down the road from us here at Sparkle and Spin, the new Peckham Space launches this weekend. To celebrate, artist Rachel House is inviting everyone to take part in Peckham Peacocks , Peckham's first ever mobility scooter meet. We'll be heading down there to design our very own club pennant, have a sixties style makeover and watch the Red Wheelies, mobility scooter formation team. So hop on your micro scooter and join the fun!

Something for the weekend......NYC Special

Since Stine arrived back from her New York adventure she has been making us green with envy with all her tales of NYC!! So this week we've decided to share some of her fun and give you a taste of NYC with our Something for the weekend feature.

The High Line is an amazing elevated park on reclaimed railroad tracks that has been transformed into a beautiful urban oasis, where you can relax on a lounger and take in the views of the city. A perfect place to let the kids run wild, we will be adding this to the list for our next trip to the Big Apple.

The High Line is located on Manhattan's West Side and is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily.
It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues.

Stars & Stripes

Stine has been jetsetting and has just returned from an adventure in New York (there will be tales from her soon). To help her holiday blues we’ve decided to get out the stars and stripes. If you want to get in the spirit check out Katvig’s stripes, Louie Louis leggings and the must have for the cool summer evenings is Molo’s star hoodie. It will be the 4^th July before you know it!

Something for the weekend.... Horniman Museum

We’re going to check out the Myths and Monsters Exhibition at the Horniman Museum and see just how many of the mythical beasts from fairytales were created and see just how many of them could actually be real. If you believe in fairy tales or not we know you’ll love this hand-drawn, neon embroidered t-shirt from Molo that resembles a fairy tale sketchbook. For those little monsters try Holly’s Lion Tee and roooaaaar like a lion!

We're not entirely sure that pink does make the boys wink but here at Sparkle & Spin the girls can't get enough enough of it!! Nelly the elephant packed her trunk.....

And trumbeled off to London. For the past few weeks we have been enjoying playing spot the elephant on our many journeys across the city. The Elephant Parade is a conservation project that is raising awareness of the endangered asian elephant, the event has brought 250 brightly coloured elephants and dotted them around the city. Each elephant has been decorated by a different designer or celebrity and are for sale by auction. Until then they can be found brightening the streets of London and we can't think of a better game to play this half term than spot the elephant. So grab a panama hat and get hunting...
